Sources of News and Information
To preface, I'd like to inform my readers that I don't spend much time looking at or reading news stations, and as such, I have limited experience going to the sources listed for news. Even so, these are the news sources I best know and trust, given popularity, recommendation, and/or personal use.
My first source is Fox News. While I personally land somewhere middle-left as far as politics go, it's important to look at both (or all) biases and sides to a story. My family has long been a fan of Fox News and is one of the sources I, along with a multitude of others, go to for current events.
CNN is another of the main news sources, typically falling left on the political spectrum. They report on current events, especially what's going on in the United States, akin to Fox News. Given their seemingly opposite bias, it's good to look at both CNN and Fox News for a more rounded story, or even to see the different opinions on a situation.
The Washington Post is a news outlet I haven't used much outside of academic research purposes. Given it's recognizable name and the reputation it has, the Washington Post is one I trust and end up looking to for news.
Like the Washington Post, I haven't used the New York Times much outside of academic research purposes. Even so, it's a source I trust for accurate news and it's one I come back to regularly when looking at news outlets.
Finally, on my list of five news sources, I have the Charlotte Observer. Personally, I've never read the Charlotte Observer, but it's been recommended to me, as well as being the post my Media Law professor has written for in the past. The Charlotte Observer is a news outlet I am interested in reading in the future, when the need arises.
